Handily positioned for Temple Fortune shoppers, Din Café – on our Sunday morning visit – was buzzing with an assortment of diners, ranging from family groups to immaculately coiffured old ladies enjoying coffee and cake. The menu, which has a South African flavour, offers both snacks and mains. Once our food arrived the reason for Din's success was apparent. Star of the show was ranana: pitta filled with houmous and coriander-flavoured boerwurst sausage served with a generous, colourful salad – a great combination. Chicken burger hit the spot too, while the thin-cut chips had us nibbling even when we were full. With cooking this good, we couldn't resist sampling the carrot cake and chocolate marble cake – both exemplary. Every neighbourhood should have a café like Din.
