London's best review, food and drink news
Amid a grim landscape of council estates, this large, brightly lit place hasnt the most auspicious of locations. Yet despite such a handicap, Dragon Castle has become one of the best Chinese restaurants in London, offering a wealth of skilfully crafted dishes that wont break the bank including many so authentic theyre not available elsewhere. Service is thoughtful and intelligent too. Our waiter patiently guided us through the vast menu, then recommended a range of faultless dishes. A cold platter to start included jellyfish tossed in sesame seeds, given sharpness by grated raw garlic. To follow, fried crispy pork with golden crushed garlic was meaty but not heavy; salt and pepper fried squid was soft but not soggy. Steamed corn-fed chicken in ginger stock was a memorable highlight: tender and fragrant meat enhanced by a powerful sauce intensified by white pepper and star-anise. Even the proverbial rice bowl was special perfumed with shredded dried scallop and the smoke of a fiery wok. For lovers of authentic Chinese cooking, this is one destination that definitely repays the journey.

London's best review, food and drink news
What a revelation! After China Town, here is another stunningly good Chinese. Superb food and ambience, very attentive service. One of the top 5 Chinese restaurants in London without a doubt. The freshest ingredients of the highest quality, food lovingly made and presented. Many layers of taste, lost of spice and wonderfully explosive flavours. The most delicate dimsums in London. Excellent in every respect
The Restaurant was great, we went for a birthday meal with the children.
The portions were huge
The food here is fantastic, they have some very interesting and authentic dishes. It makes a nice change from the formulaic menus in other chinese restaurants. In particular the dim sum menu is excellent and very fairly priced.
