    Budget choice
  • There’s no shortage of vegetarian restaurants on Drummond Street, a stone’s throw from Euston station and surrounded by offices. Here they mostly serve Indian-style food, so this modern vegetarian eaterie stands out. The ground floor offers a small range of organic groceries and beauty products while the hugely popular takeaway buffet boasts a selection of salads and hot food. A favourite destination for besuited local workers as well as lithe yoga divas in their sportswear, the basement café seems bright and full of summer, no doubt due to the combined forces of clean white walls, wooden tables and a chipper Australian waitress. While our smoothies were cold, thick and divine, the main courses proved disappointing. The nut roast was bland and perched on watery potatoes; the ‘now that’s a salad’ salad was a plateful of delicious sprouts let down by almost tasteless fresh tomatoes that needed more dressing – better to use sun-dried tomatoes instead, we thought. Happily, the ‘now that’s a pizza’ pizza was so good we devoured another, full of creamy feta, spinach and thick flavoursome tomato sauce. There’s a great breakfast menu too, with options including millet or quinoa porridge, gluten-free muesli, scrambled eggs, veggie sausages and various wheat and barley grass concoctions..

Delicious and cute - very small place - so it is ideal if you go rather early for lunch (12pm) or to grab a healthy take away... food is very tasty, colorful, and varied - lots of fresh vegetables, beans, seeds, and fruit and a variety of hot dishes, including a comfort soup. It is deal for a quick lunch break with a cool friend.
