Casa Basil is a labour of love. Owner Roy, who lived in São Paulo for four years, has kitted out the small, immaculate interior with just six tables – each covered with a green-and-white checked cloth – to create a family-friendly atmosphere. Shelving units displaying Brazilian food products evoke a local Carioca shop. Roy talks customers through the dishes (all prepared in-house), and your selection is then heated up in a microwave, snack-bar style. Classics such as feijoada (pork and bean stew), coxinha (a chicken-filled croquette), empanadas (filled savoury pastries) and Bahian moqueca (fish stew) are usually available. While the cooking might not blow you away, it’s authentic, carefully prepared and a good introduction to Brazilian cuisine. Highlights were the pão de queijo (cheese manioc-flour rolls) and a heavenly passion-fruit mousse. Casa Brasil is unlicensed, but do try the tasty Guaraná soft drink.

I'm brazilian and I wanted to take my friends from other countries to taste a typical dish from Brazil. Indeed, I must confess that I was missing black beans and the Guaraná soft drink.
Everything, from the starter to the dessert, tastes exactly the same that does in my country.
Great to find Casa Brasil food as delicious as always on my last trip to London. Well worth the detour before hitting the M1back.
