Mudchute City Farm’s café is very much a family zone, complete with wipe-clean tablecloths and a toy-strewn kiddie corner. Order at the counter, where you’ll see staff preparing snacks in the kitchen, and eat indoors to the soundtrack of toddlers bashing on a xylophone. Alternatively, perch on one of several outdoor benches next to the stable yard. The changing menu of weekday lunches could include Mudchute Farm Oxford Down lamb stew; farm egg and mayo salad; or fusilli with garlic shoots, cream and parmesan. Weekend breakfast feasts feature the likes of black pudding with bubble and squeak. Fairy cakes are on hand for kids hankering after a sugar high, while parents might prefer more adult tea-time treats such as coffee and cardamom cake dotted with pomegranate seeds. A smokehouse has recently been built (staff have already smoked cheeses, geese, ducks, butter, garlic and eggs in it) and a wood-fired oven is due to be completed in the summer of 2008 – both of which should widen the choice of appetising dishes to accompany your day on this lively Docklands farm.

Had an unpleasant experience during my visit yesterday because of the slack service.
Went to Mudchute Kitchen about a month ago on a Thursday around 1130'ish for brunch. The guy who served us was disinterested, to the point where we felt we were putting him out. We ordered 2x breakfasts... the eggs were burnt and broken; the sausage was HARD (tasted like it had been re-microwaved a couple of times); 1x tiny piece of bacon that was only cooked on one side; horrible, bitter beans; and the tiniest amount of bubble that tasted revolting. No toast, and no coffee included. For this we were charged approx. £12. After the reviews I'd read I expected much better a) food, and b) service. When I took the food back and asked for my money back, the guy who served us said "come back on a weekend". Just one question... why bother opening mid-week?! I'd NEVER go back again.
THE BEST CHEESECAKE WE HAVE TASTED IN LONDON!!
We just moved to this area and ate at Mudchute Kitchen for the first time last weekend- English breakfast was decent and scrambled eggs lovely, but the freshly baked cheesecake was so amazing, we started with a piece to share and ended up ordering 4 slices! Only about £2.50 for a big creamy piece too, was tempted to buy a whole cake to take home :)
Will definitely become a regular hangout for us!
Have eaten at Mudchute numerous times in the past few years. Food is consistently high quality and wonderfully seasonal (menu regularly includes produce from mudchute garden surrounding fruit trees etc). Service has always been friendly and first rate. Cakes and home made drinks are dreamy! Very highly recommended!
Have eaten at mudhcute a couple of times and always had a fantastic experience. Apart from the magic location within the farm, the food is sublime. Friends had a private party there recently where we enjoyed home smoked chicken, salt baked salmon, the tastiest salads, home made ginger beer and lemonade... need i go on!
Have been here with the kids a few times and the service is consistently poor, the last time we went the food was inedible! Had to return it and had quite a time getting my money back. Won't be eating here again.
