On a road known for saunas and strip clubs, Pasta Plus might raise a few eyebrows as to what its ‘Plus’ signifies. Yet, location aside, this family-run Italian is far from suspect, attracting a lunchtime crowd of local business people with its good-value dishes and swift service. Part of the restaurant is in a conservatory, which brings plenty of natural light to the rest of the room. Functional furniture and minimal decor of black and white prints create a simple, stylish look. We skipped starters, taking advantage of complimentary bruschetta. There’s a wide range of main courses including fish, meat and several pasta dishes (all with own-made pasta), but notably no pizza. We went for the spaghetti pescatore and crab ravioli. The first dish arrived piled high with clams, mussels, king prawns and crab claws, and was thoroughly tasty. The ravioli also had a generous amount of crab meat, but the pasta pockets were thick and chewy. Portions are substantial, but it’s worth eating up as the desserts aren’t worth saving space for.

I have dined at Pasta Plus on many occasions both with work colleagues and family and always found the service aand food exceptional. Everthing is cooked fresh and the portions generous, little gem of an eatery.
