The Real Greek chain is an utter rip off chain of so-so food.
They got a job lot at B&Q and made a few themed restaurants.
Have a look at their website - not one of their team is Greek, how can they even begin to say they understand Greek food when they are all last years' tourists.
Get a grip on reality and either start serving real Greek food that reflects the sea or the mountains or change the shop frontage to reflect the expensive kebab shop that you really are.
last night a team of 20 went to the real greek. The table was booked and the restaurant was not busy at at.. we waited for our drinks to arrive at least 30 mins and 1,5 hrs for food. the starters were so small that even ordering 6 dishes did not appease my hunger. The service was not good. The chips that arrived were half raw. awful place. Never again!!
My wife, my little daughter and I stopped to dine at The Real Greek on a Sunday afternoon. we thought was a good idea,
having eaten there before, which to be honest wasn’t that bad.
This time, however, it was a very different experience altogether. We waited for more than half an hour to be served our food, only to discover that our food was cold. We point out to our waiter who was rather kind; he took the souvlakis back to the kitchen. In five minutes, we had our food back, but unfortunately the food was just microwaived, We have never eaten such insipid suvlakis. Souvlakis at The Real Greek were far from the quality of the traditional Greek ones in Greece. The chips we had were also too salty and half of them were burned bits.
We were surprised by the fact that they had not bothered to improve on the quality of food and the service, especially during the recession times we are going through. Some restaurants unquestionably do not seem to change. We vowed never to eat there again.
The toilet light was broken - when I made an enquiry there was no politeness about the way I was informed "it's a problem with the electrical fitting - nothing I can do."
Then our 2 Souvlakis appeared on the same plate, which was pracrtically thrown onto our table.
Our drinks did not appear on the bill (I had them added).
Just not very good.
I went to the bank side Real Greek and the service was terrible, we waiting 45 minutes for a coffee and coke a cola, then another 30 minutes for our food, which was just some dips and some olives, and some pita bread and chips this done not take over an hour, and when we got the food the chips were luke warm, I asked the waiter for a our receipt and he gave the attached, you can see it was for £21. I gave him £25.00 and was never even offered the change, to add to the cheek, I was really disappointed, as taking a friend out to cheer her up I would really think twice before going to one of your restaurants again.
I absolutely LOVE this restaurant group. I have always gone to the Bankside branch but have recently also been to their Hoxton restaurant which is absolutely gorgeous! The staff there is also excellent. And how exciting...they have now opened one in Westfield as well - I can't wait to go there.
The food is always consistently good and the service is out of this world. I could not recommend them more!
I went the to the Real Greek on Friday night and was so dissapointed.
I recomended this place to my friends as I had been there before(granted this was about 18 months previous) however the menu had undergone a vast change. Gone had the menu where you could order a main meal for yourself, instead in had come mezes (Greek for Tapas). We did exactly what the menuu suggested and ordered three mezes per person (each roughly £5). We were however deeply dissapointed by the size of portions, our lamb kebab mezes came, but there was only one kebab (this wasn't even substantial, 1 skewer of shrimp came (3 shrimp on a stick) and the kalamari was tough and didn't even seem to come from one whole squid. Luckily we had ordered two plates of bread so had filled up slightly on this prior to our less than ample selection. I was actually so dissapointed with the food (even though it tasted good) I asked to speak to the manager to voice my opinion.
The manager appeared and I told him my dissapointment only for the manager to patronize me by telling me "he didn't know where I usually dined but the food he served was top quality and made on the premises". I had not disputed the quality of this man's food only the value for money which I thought was more than lacking. In fact I dine out regulalry as part of my job and have never felt undercut by any of the other fine restraunts I've been to e.g. Claridges, the Goucho Grill or Coq D'argent. I don't mind paying well for a meal but I expect to feel full at the end of it which I certainly did not at the Real Greek, I would therefore go as far to say that The Real Greek is a Real Rip Off!
We ate dinner at the Real Greek on a warm sunny London evening expecting cold champagne and friendly service with our ambience. We were greated bitterly by barstaff who served us a bottle of warm French Rose despite our request for the Australian one. After being seated at our table we encountered our well meaning but inept and quite vacuous waiter who spoke little English and had no skills of observation. The food however was good.. quite typical and predictable, but well presented and great value. The food far outweighed the ambivolent service we recieved. The waiter was noticably angry about our choice to not pay the service charge, but despite this we would return again to enjoy great food in an impressive Southbank location.
