How fast does fast food have to be? Dishes come pretty quickly here, but the addition of Mediterranean decor, real crockery, wooden tables and floor-staff puts Nando’s a notch above a standard fast-food outlet. The chain’s success has been secured by its succulent Portuguese peri peri (chilli-spiced) chicken, which comes flame-grilled and to your own spicy specification: lemon and herb, medium, hot, or extra hot. Many branches also sell halal chicken. Prices vary according to the number of side dishes you add; popular choices of peri peri chips and spicy rice keep palates pulsating. The new vegetarian dish of portobello mushroom with halloumi cheese and chilli jam in a bun or pitta makes a tasty alternative to the chicken choices. We found staff at the Mile End branch friendly and attentive, and despite a high turnover the place was kept clean and tidy. This is fast food done well.

I really can't recommend Nandos. The food is too fast food style : cheap ingredients, lots of fat, dry (and old looking) salad. The chicken I ordered was pretty bad and unfortunately most dishes comprise chicken. I recommend you rather go to McDonalds or BurgerKing where at least the ingredients seem to be selected with care.
