Strada may like to bill itself as stylish and contemporary, but in reality it’s more moccasin than stiletto. Like the decor, the menu sits on the safe side: neutral, reliable yet never going to win any awards for innovation. Food is notorious for being a bit hit and miss, but on our visit the Marylebone branch delivered – for the most part. Seafood pasta was generously packed with juicy prawns, pizza arrived soggy in the centre, and refreshingly, the tiramisu didn’t taste of fridge: nor did the tap water, which is presented to each table without a hint of a frown. Tightly packed tables mean canoodling is generally out of the question, but for group gatherings Strada is a popular option. A pleasant, if not particularly memorable, chain.
