Literally a hop, skip and stumble across the road from Parsons Green tube station, this spot has quickly established itself as a super-slick and sophisticated food and drink destination. With its loud 1970s-style wallpaper and cool shades-of-chocolate colour scheme, the decor is retro funk toned down with typical Fulham taste. Two rooms dedicated to dining and a compact glass-walled courtyard suggest the handsome former pub building provides the venue for some serious cooking. One glance at the Modern European menu confirms it. Head chef Karl MacEwan, formerly of the Glasshouse in Kew, is big on seasonal produce and generous portions. Along with succulent slow-cooked pork belly and fillet steak are more adventurous offerings that lift the menu way beyond the mundane. Our broad bean and crab risotto was as good as anything so bright-green in colour can be, while lime and vanilla cheesecake buried in bright purple berries was a sensual treat. Those with a penchant for cocktails might like to sip a chocolate martini for pud instead. Worth hopping off the tube for.
