London's best review, food and drink news
Despite its Soho location, Vasco & Pieros Pavilion has maintained the friendly and unpretentious atmosphere usually found in good neighbourhood restaurants. Yet the careful attention to detail and first-rate ingredients bear the hallmark of a top-notch establishment. The menu, which changes twice daily, is skewed towards earthy Umbrian dishes, using only two or three ingredients for each recipe. Extra-virgin olive oil, cured meats, cheeses and wild mushrooms are sourced from local producers in central Italy, while the celebrated Umbrian truffles also make an appearance when in season. On our visit, the list of own-made pasta dishes yielded a plate of delectable aubergine-filled tortelloni. From the main course menu, a juicy, butter-soft grilled chicken breast served with green beans was outstanding in its simplicity. A slice of moreish chocolate truffle cake with vanilla ice-cream helped us forgive the patchy service, which slowed down considerably as the restaurant became busier.

London's best review, food and drink news
The food, while very good, is quite expensive and the restaurant, although a little cramped, does have a nice feel. With wine and a few courses this is a £60 per head restaurant.
The downside, there is a downside: staff here can be very very tetchy, even down-right rude. Not somewhere I would choose again for a night out.
