  • Ruddles County, Summer Lightning, Timothy Taylor Landlord, and Peroni (among others) on tap – the beer’s not thrown out with the bath water at this exciting new refurbishment. The Princess Victoria’s sheer size gives it the edge over many competitors, for there’s room to house cheerfully loud drinkers as well as dining couples and families. Tables are plentiful in both bar and dining room – the latter including a long communal set-up where we ate after enjoying beers by the impressive horseshoe-shaped, marble-topped bar. Our waiter, a qualified sommelier, confessed he knew more about wine than the menu, but worked conscientiously to ensure everything was just so. Brawn, the least attractive starter, was successful thanks to its deep flavour and moist texture. Terrific triple-cooked chips came with accurately chargrilled 28-day-matured ribeye (the evening’s most popular order), but the Princess Victoria can do fancy too, as shown by a delicious hake fillet with clams, smoked eel, macaroni and vegetable cream sauce. Desserts featured superb ice-creams: vanilla with cherry clafoutis, rhubarb with a jamaican ginger cake and rhubarb compote – though the latter felt like two separate puds. The sensational wine list offers a choice of carafe sizes plus 175ml glasses; diners are encouraged to mix and match with their food. No persuasion needed.

The hi;ghest quality food cooked to perfection. Customer friendly service, a great wine list and staff who know their wines.

I visited the Princess Victoria upon recommendation and found this to be totally justified. I had lunch during the second week after the opening - early days for the management who were openly appreciative and attentive to any comments made about the venue and anything relating to the provision of 'best possible' for the customer. The staff were welcoming and discreetly attentive: and what can I say regarding the meal and wine : both were outstanding. With Matt and James at the helm, I would anticipate this calibre of excellence being strongly maintained.
    Thank you PV.

A great night out with a wonderful meal.Service was brisk as they were very busy but time enough for a chat with our table staff about the place. The bar and dinning room renovations were very repectfully done and in keeping with the pubs origins. Its pleasing to see a victorian pub not damaged in a rush for profit. The food was first class and well complimented by a wine list that provided a wide and interesting choice for all pockets. We like the style and feel of the place a look forward to repeating our experience. We were a suprised at the not so happy comments and can only hope that the management are not diverted from their success and the disgruntled find a place more suited to their expectations

OK…..here we go.....finally time for a response from someone at the Princess Victoria Pub Shepherds Bush.....Co owner Matt Wilkin here; as I can’t contact you directly I’m using this very tool which Time Out has created to reach you.
Firstly thank you to all those who have commented.....as all feedback is important to us and most importantly from you the client. To those who have given us positive feedback and comments thank you…as to learn we’ve got it right on your visit pleases us more than you can possibly imagine and only fuels our focus….to those who have given negative and constructive criticism thank you also…..hands up, we obviously we’ve got it wrong on your visit and this truly disappoints me and the team to no end; we’re not perfect and still have much work to do. We never could have believed how quickly this project would have taken off locally, and it’s great that so much interest has been created at the start of our 15 year plan to be here. Please know that we are listening…..I am here to respond…..and will relentlessly endeavour to constantly improve our service offering to you. You can pick up the phone any time to convey your comments to me or email me directly at matt@princessvictoria.co.uk........Over to you…..

I have to agree with certain comments and they make absolute sense.
The contradiction between the venue's deco and the level of professionals is huge, they should have spent a bit of the money of the deco in costumer service training.Overall what it has on imponence lacks on atmosphere.I hope they start to listen to people's comments

I definetely agree that the deco is superb,I had a night out with some friends and was enjoyable. But I still think that it lacks a lot in atmsophere as the staff is not confident with the long and pretentious wine list.

We arrived for a second sitting at 9.15 to find the previous diners at our table had been obviously enjoying themselves so much they didn't want to leave... but the staff were so nice and helpful, showed us to a bar table and gave us a complimentary bottle of Prosecco (it was a birthday celebration) and gave us an entertaining potted history of this marvelous former Gin Palace. So we had our starters in the bar then moved to our table in the large dining room for main courses. Food was exceptionally good, fantastic aged steak, wondrous lamb and lovely sea bass... and the staff were absolutely charming. It was quite noisy, but that's a symptom of a place that is packed and buzzing on a Friday night. We are looking forward to going there for lunch! A brilliant revival in the Uxbridge Road! Highly recommended.

I feel complled to respond to the negative comments here. We are regulars of this new gem, and have never found the staff unfriendly. The wine list is amazing and exceptionally well priced, the food is incredible and at gastropub prices, and the interior is so authentic and well thought out.
Staff are enthusiastic and freindly every time we go...even when they are really busy.
    Well done PV....Iwe love you.

I was very excited about the opening of princess victoria in shepperd bush. I went their with friends and we had a great time. The food was good, good selection of affordable wines. Buzzy atmosphere and friendly service with no fuzz and I believe that is what a pub is all about.

I totally agree that the PV has a superb appeal.I had dinner on the 6th of august with some friends. The food was really good, but the manager is really amateur. It just ruins the whole experience.
Unfortunately I still think that we have much better places available in London.
