  • Lahore Kebab House

    Budget choice
  • Over 40 years old, Lahore Kebab House has never had it so good. As noisy and boisterous as a school canteen, it appeals to a diverse group of curry lovers, including brash City suits, families, and young office workers. Functional tables and a gleaming open kitchen are the setting for hearty, earthy cooking with plenty of smoky grills, onion-ginger-garlic masalas, and hot, buttery breads. At weekends, keep an eye out for specials such as trotter curry, and haleem (unusually made with chicken rather than lamb, simmered with cracked wheat). Our dhal gosht (lentils simmered with browned lamb in a fried onion masala) was tender and robustly flavoured with garlic and ginger, a marvellous match with tandoori roti. Vegetarians are well-catered for, and we loved the homely spin on paneer curry flecked with peas – especially the soft curd cheese cubes, cloaked in cumin-scented tomato masala. Our neighbours on the next table were devouring tandoori lamb chops with so much relish that we know what we’ll be ordering on our next visit. Despite the cacophony around us, service is prompt and efficient. This is no place to linger over kulfis; chances are there’ll be a queue of takers for your table.

This is a fantastic place, and I can not recommend it enough. The lamb chops are amazing and a must have, yes they are spicy but you must be missing your taste buds if you are unable to enjoy the mouth watering flavours. We ordered a few curries which were all delicious including an amazing channa masala. The dish I would say was not the best was the Sag paneer, the paneer cheese they use if a bit tougher than usual and is much better suited to a tandoor dish.
It is an extremely busy resturant and I have had to queue for al teast twenty minutes when I've been but it is well worth it. Give brick lane a miss and take wander down the back streets!

ive been to this place a few times now as it was highly recommened by a fair few people i have worked with and must admit they did not dissapoint. you can always tell a good place to eat by how busy they r and all i can say , is give it a go. when you have famous people from around the world turn up , like to Fonze from Happy Days who i see in there, you cant be going wrong.

we went here for our office Christmas meal and it was awful. The meat dishes came out first then after some pestering the vegetarian dishes - very limited came out. The food was awful and the service was terrible. There was no flavour and all chilli heat. If you want cheap food at the end of a night of beer then i'm sure its fine, if you have no need to keep your taste buds. Shocking, terrible, appauling.
