Backed by cookery writer Mridula Baljekar, Atithi is a capacious new venue on a dull parade by the roaring A1. Inside, money has been lavished on black floor tiles, linen tablecloths and logoed white crockery. Modern art decorates the cream walls. It’s attractive, but was deserted throughout our midweek dinner. Food includes the usual tandooris, bhunas and jalfrezis, but there’s plenty more – notably vegetarian food, incorporating the likes of Kashmiri lotus root kebabs. Our starter, kadhai mogo, had cubes of cassava bathed in a sweet-sour sauce boosted by garlic, black pepper and spring onions. Service is well-meaning, but can be clueless. Orders were muddled, and a waiter described kedgeree as ‘sauce’. His blushes were spared when the venison with shiitake kedgeree (‘Mridula’s signature dish’) turned out to be unavailable. Instead we enjoyed a Keralite dish of meen moiley: flavoursome king prawns in creamy coconut sauce pepped up with curry leaves and chilli. Puddings are alluring, especially in the summer mango season, though whether the perfect fruit was enhanced by crème anglaise is questionable. We wish Atithi well: it’s handsome and the kitchen has talent, but the bill can mount up, and some staff training wouldn’t go amiss.

Well. I recently arrived in London chasing a dream. I'm fun, good natured and full of energy. I'm looking for that chemistry that seems hard to...

I have been in a few times and have had several takeaways too and have thoroughly enjoyed it every time. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and the food is consistently excellent - far better than any other local Indian restaurants that i have tried and I have tried quite a few!! The prices are very reasonable too :)
I have just ordered a delivery and my mouth is watering already!!!
we have ordered delivery from atithi and I should say that the quality of the food is very good. Everything is very "refined" and you can see the difference if you compare similar dishes from other restaurants plus the recipes are slightly different. The only dishes i never seem to like is mutter panner but everything else has been awesome (i am a vegetarian) . prices are quite reasonable i would think its maybe £1-2 more but its worth the difference
I have eaten in Atithi twice and had a delivery once in the past few months. On all 3 occasions the food has been to an excellent standard - trumping all other Indian eats in Mill Hill by far! Its all very fresh and the meat is very tender - I recommend the Rogan Josh - its the best i have eaten!
I can't see how the food can be described as expensive - tonight we had 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 naans and shared a rice and had drinks for £34, which I though very reasonable - again compared to other places to eat in Mill Hill. Atithi then offered us a complimentary digestive - yum!
It is quiet, and the location doesn't have the best of views - but its within walking distance from me - so it wins on this account too!
Booked for eight people on a sunday evening. The reception was very curtious. The place was very well decorated and is quite spacious. Our orders were not muddled at all, we got exactly what we ordered and the quality of the dishes was pretty decent. We asked for north Indian dishes and they were very acceptable. Dishes are reasonably price, being a bit on the high side. There were not many people but we did not mind that as the place was not noisy and we did not have to shout to be heard. All in all, quite pleasant evening, will go again.
Dont bother. The service is lousy, the food over priced and mediocre and the atmosphere non-existent.
I don't write this review lightly. Tried Atithi a number of times and each time is worse than the next. Really wanted to like it but Valentines night was a total disaster and we won't return (I'm sure that the 2 other couples near us who also complained won't either) advise you not to waste your money.
