  • Café TPT

    Budget choice
  • The acronym stands for ‘tai pai tong’, a type of open-air food stall popular in Hong Kong. Appropriately, the food is fast, cheap and good, but thankfully the surroundings are comfier than the folding tables and stools. Opt for a home-style soup (usually an unctuous pork bone and vegetable broth), a meal-on-a-plate (choose from rice or noodle dishes with roast meats), and one of the phenomenal desserts. The mango and pomelo sago with coconut milk is as good as it gets this side of the Orient, and the silken tofu in ginger syrup is served in a traditional wooden vessel. Service is brusque but well-meaning.

I regularly eat here with my girlfriend and I have to say that it is by far the best Chinese food I've eaten in the UK. The restaurant is small but busy and has a great atmosphere. Service is brisk but also friendly and highly efficient. The food is excellent not to mention fantastic value for money. The mango and coconut milk tapioca dessert is simply stunning and is one of the best desserts I've had in a long time.
If you don't want to pay the £30 a head prices required at world renowned Chinese eateries such as Hakkasan then look no further than Cafe TPT!

My husband and I LOVE Cafe PTP. Every time we go down to London, we try to fit in a meal there. The food has always been excellent, quick in coming, and definitely worth the reasonable prices. The wait staff remembers us when we come in, and are all lovely, gracious people.

No frills restaurant but more than made up by the genuine and friendly staff who will guide through an authentic menu of delicious freshly cooked food. The best accolade for this eatery is that the majority of the customer base is Chinese. No better badge of honour. We love it and it would be our restaurant of choice any day.
