Cheesy Cantonese pop blares constantly, the lighting’s garish and the plastic booths can get uncomfortable, but the food here is anything but cringeworthy. All the Hong Kong favourites are present, from unctuous spag bol to creamy condensed milk on thick toast. A big steaming bowl of roast duck noodles is comfort in a bowl, as is the fail-safe option of wok-fried beef ho fun. The long list of bubble teas is formidable, but we rate the thick, aromatic sesame variation – its flavour is ambrosial.

The music was loud and cheesy and the plates plastic, but the food was freshly prepared - if not served in order (ie starters with and after the mains) but no matter - and really delicious Chinese; great for pre-theatre. And thank goodness low on MSG, so none of the wierd raging thirst attack later. Great value. Recommended.
