It has a new name and a fresh look, but little else has changed at this bento box-sized Japanese, formerly known as Miyabi. A reasonable standard of sushi and sashimi, and favourites from pork tonkatsu to salmon teriyaki, continue to draw in City workers, especially at lunch. Prices are higher than those at conveyor-belt chains, but the food is a class above. The selection of sashimi, sushi and maki, while unexciting, is reliably fresh and correctly prepared. More commendable is the excellent prawn tempura, which is perfectly hot, fluffy and crispy. For lunch, the generous bento boxes are a good bet, offering nutrient-packed meals that include sashimi, miso-dressed sunomono, a choice of hot main dishes, as well as miso soup, rice and chunks of fresh fruit. Accompany the food with bottomless cups of green tea. Service is appropriately efficient; in such a cramped space, there’s little temptation to linger any longer than an hour.
