Got a jangly purse but not many notes? Head over to Bincho where, every Tuesday, you can ‘swap’ your 50p, £1 and £2 coins for delicious treats such as wasabi peas, skewers (for which Bincho, a kushiyaki – or grilled skewer – specialist, is known for), a bowl of seafood rice and teriyaki chicken (get a special surprise dish if you bring in two 100 yen coins). We also rate the superb lunch deals, which include traditional Japanese rice bowl meals – oyako-don (£6.50), topped with grilled chicken and gooey egg, is a winner, as is the rich unagi-don (grilled eel rice). All lunch sets come with miso soup and pickles.
