Situated in the heart of leafy Highgate, The Rose & Crown has been transformed from a run-of-the-mill gastropub into a comfortably elegant destination restaurant. Inside, the ambient lighting and soft leather chairs create an ideal setting for mid-week meals and lazy weekend dinners alike. Head Chef Gareth Thomas has worked with top chefs like Jean-Christophe Novelli and Gary Rhodes, so it’s no surprise to find classic French influences on his modern British menu. Popular dishes include the confit of Gloucester Old Spot pork belly with a Calvados jus; the beef shin burger with triple-cooked chips; and honey-glazed duck breast. At lunch, locals drop in for hearty specials washed down with a glass or two from the excellent international wine list.

Modeled on a provincial Balti house. Dreadful acoustics. A serving hatch in the middle of the restaurant makes absolutely sure there's no chance of enjoying the boring menu. Run.
