The Red Chilli restaurant just beyond the eastern edge of the City of London has got a trick up its sleeve. Outside, you’ll see a classic neo-Georgian brick front with white casement windows, but step inside and you’ll find the heart of traditional India transplanted to modern London. The interior is a haven of exposed brick, deep red curtains, carpets, and walls, smart leather seating, and tables set with spotless white linens. The bar is all shiny chrome, red leather and moody blue lighting. Red Chilli is a family-run business, with buzzy, vivacious staff and clientele. The menu covers Indian favorites, tandoori dishes, biryani specialties, great vegetarian choices and popular monthly menus.

poor quality food
rude service
I wish the bill was as poor
but no very expensive
Pleasant surroundings and ambience; good service - prompt. Fresh food, the different spices and tastes discernable. The different dishes came out a little 'samey', but that could well have been the choices we made - there was certainly a wide-ranging menu to choose from. A substantial and tasty complimentary starter was provided, but it did follow slightly stale poppadoms. Very nice Chablis for £19, and the whole bill (two meat dishes, two veg, one naan) came to just over £50 for two. Will revisit.
