  • Revived Soho institution

  • The Nosh Bar was a Soho institution in the postwar years, much as Bar Italia became in more recent decades; the location and late opening ensured a stream of thesps and bohos. The food was secondary, mainly home-style London-Jewish snacks such as salt beef on rye, chicken soup and filled bagels. The original Nosh Bar closed in the 1980s, but new owners have recreated it in the same location. It's much smarter than the original, but prices are still low, the food's decent and the staff are friendly. It's open Monday to Thursday until midnight for coffee and snacks, but on Friday and Saturday it doesn't shut, usefully, until 2am.

    I agree with you Candice.
The Salt Beef is more than yummy!
The man who cuts the meat does it to perfection.
Every friday without fail i am sitting down in the Nosh Bar, enjoying the great atmosphere, tucking into my Salt beef sandwich (with mustard) and drinking my cuppacino!
    Perfect!
Keep up the great work Nosh Bar. 10/10!!

I had never heard of salt beef until I came to the Nosh Bar - got to say love it ! Love the people who work their, their very friendly ! I went to Selfridges only yesterday evening and tried out the salt beef sandwich at Gordons Bar - Big mistake, very dry indeed - I left half of it, no where near as good as Nosh Bar ! Well done guys !

Went to the Nosh bar purely by chance when I walked down great Windmill Street on my way to the theater... what a discovery! My friend and I both had Bean and Barley soup which I haven't had for years. So great to see old traditions being revived. Good luck to them.
