Wedged into the Turnmills building, Anexo offers a dark space heaving with office workers celebrating the home-time bell; in summer the open frontage adds traffic noise to an already loud soundtrack. The ideal night here is a chat over jugs of cocktails with some food thrown in; the Gaudíesque decor captures well the feel of a Spanish bar. In general, the tapas is above par. Patatas bravas was creditable, along with meaty albóndigas, odd-looking but tasty spinach fritters, and a rich, spicy chorizo dish. The weakest links were tired sardines, and gambas a la plancha (shrimp with garlic), which were poor value at £10.50. Staff get full marks.
