London's best review, food and drink news
Could the Chelsea Bun Diner be the nearest thing that London has to an American-style truck-stop café? There's even a bus depot directly out front to give you that pitstop-on-an-American-highway feel. The menu is huge, as are the portions, especially if you opt for one of the enormous, eponymous burgers. We had gripes: our salad was drowned in dressing and almost inedible, the fries looked cheap and machine-cut, and the burger buns fell apart too easily. But what the CBD lacks on the plate, it makes up for in atmosphere: staff and customers, all smiles, created a jovial buzz. Choosing beyond the house wine might take you out of budget, but those keen for even more Americana might want to try one of the delicious coke floats.
