London's best review, food and drink news
A rare, affordable find for the bargain hungry of the King's Road, Chelsea Kitchen may look a little bit out of date, but this is part of its odd allure. Set amid designer cafés and trendy coffee shops, it's one of the area's only ungentrified eateries. You can get a decent niçoise salad for a fiver or a tasty home made curry for £4.10; otherwise, choose an all-day breakfast, hearty omelette or spaghetti bolognese before turning back the years for dessert with an old school favourite like jelly and ice-cream. Whether you sit upstairs in a booth or venture downstairs for the pew-like seating and some secluded alcoves, staff are friendly and quick to serve. The Kitchen is a welcome time-warp in modern-day Chelsea.
