Don't expect culinary fireworks at this high street Vietnamese. The locals that jostle for position in the queue on a Saturday night do so for a pre-bar meal that'll leave them full with enough spare for a night out in Upper Street's bars. Starters are all around the £4 mark, and you can pick up a one-course meal for under £6.50. The pre-crawl nature of the place means that turnover is quick, and woe betide those who dawdle. ‘What?' scowled our waitress, ‘you aren't ready to order yet?'. The food is nonetheless competent enough, with our beef in chilli and lemongrass having a creamy nuttiness to it, even if it didn't taste particularly of either lemongrass or chilli. A reasonable quick-fix stop, but nothing more.
