Amaranth is the busiest restaurant in Earlsfield, and booking is essential. The cacophony doesn't make it the place for a quiet tête-a-tête; people come for the low prices and a BYO policy that allows you to eat very decently, within budget. The menu kicks off with a series of set menus which offer a surfeit of food. Not the finest royal Thai cuisine, but the basic curries and stir-fries – from squid with peppercorns to pad Thai – are competently prepared. Service is brisk, though not brusque.

I have been described by a friend as beautiful, always funny, fiercely loyal, slightly mad with a sexy gravelly voice. which I think makes me sound...
Whenever I visit family in London I go to this restaurant. The food is always cooked fresh and it is delicious. A sign of a good restaurant is that it is always busy, Amaranth is no exception, so always book beforehand or you may not get a table. All the staff are very pleasant.
