Locals love this café run by members of the London Buddhist Centre, and flock here for weekday lunches and the leisurely Saturday all-day breakfast. It’s easy to see why the latter is a draw – puffy American-style pancakes are a strong point, whether piled with savoury toppings such as spinach and mixed mushrooms, or with fruit salad and sweet mascarpone. The vegetarian full english is hugely popular and includes scrambled eggs or tofu, sausages (a touch tough on our last visit), baked beans, more ’shrooms and delectably herby tomatoes. Portions are huge and, while you tackle them, there are free filter coffee refills to keep you going. Changing artwork decorates the walls, and there’s a plant-strewn courtyard for when the weather cooperates. Staff are amiable and ready with high chairs to accommodate the numerous families who pack the place at weekends.
January 2009: The management and chef of Wild Cherry has changed since our review above. Please contact the restaurant for details before visiting.

My daughter and I love 'Wild Cherry.' She is an inpatient at The London Chest Hospital but sometimes makes it out to lunch with me at the restaurant. The staff are very kind and caring (we were even given a free cake last time we ate there.) The food is delicious (and we're not even vegetarians!) Bowls of soup are huge and there are always three to choose from. The salad selection is delicious and the cakes superb. There are always jugs of water with mint or whatever in them and the art work is colourful and interesting.
