London's best review, food and drink news
This tiny, laid-back diner has a short menu and a lengthy list of fans. Every day it packs customers into its six long booths; youll usually have to share with strangers. The burgers are undeniably the big attraction; theyre large, heavy and made to order. Theres a fairly good selection, including plenty for vegetarians, and a foghorn-leghorn chicken burger. Sizeable orders of crispy fries and onion rings sit neatly alongside the burgers; for a healthier option, choose one of the half-dozen salads. The menu also features a handful of sandwiches, and a wide variety of shakes and malts priced according to their levels of thickness. Excellent calorific breakfasts of pancakes, eggs and bacon are available too. Aside from the lack of seating, the only area where this diner tends to fall down is in its service, which is nonchalant to the point of somnolence never good when youve got a hunger only a burger can remedy.
