Christopher’s is an attractive spot, with its creamy decor and wide windows letting in light and air. The restaurant has long staked out a position on the first floor of one of Covent Garden’s prettier buildings. Below is a newly trendy ground-floor bar, and a marble Italianate staircase that leads up to the dining room. The menu is consistently excellent, featuring some of the best US cuisine – juicy steaks from Nebraskan cattle, lobster from Maine – as well as more elaborate dishes such as pan-fried sea bass with fennel and chorizo, halibut cooked in red wine with roast salsify, and roast pumpkin mousse with shiitake mushrooms and pumpkin salsa. The restaurant still has too much expense-account padding (£22 for the burger with lobster, for example, and £27.50 for a 14oz sirloin), but it also has more affordable dishes, and creative options such as fillet steak served ‘carpetbag style’: with fried oysters. Desserts are always outstanding; the chefs do things with peach melba your grandma never thought of. The atmosphere is just slightly formal, but never uncomfortable. Service verges on impeccable, and the wine list is seductive.

Absolutely fantastic, the food was gorgeous and the atmosphere was brilliant. The Martini bar was very ambient with the low lighting and candles, the choice of drinks was amazing. Upstairs in the restaurant the waiting service was very professional and efficient would definitely dine there again.... [More]

I went to Christopher's recently with some work colleagues. We started in the cocktail bar, and sampled some of their brilliant selection of very well made cocktails. Nice atmosphere in the bar too. Dinner was excellent. Great variety of dishes, great presentation, although I was a ... [More]

I've been three times now, always for a special occasion and never has Christopher's disappointed. I have tried their brunch, the à la carte and the pre-theatre menu and all have been superb. The wine and the champagne are delicious, the ambience is wonderful and the service is excellent. For... [More]

We spent a very good moment in the bar downstairs, the cocktail menu is impressive and the service very careful. We ended up staying much longer than initially planned !

Christopher's was recommended to me and I was not disappointed. The cocktail bar on the ground floor serves amazing cocktails at reasonable prices and provides a perfect pre dinner experience. The grand candle lit staircase leading to the main dinning area is very impressive. When seated the... [More]

From the moment you enter Christopher's until the moment you leave, you are really well looked after. The food is fantastic, great service, very friendly staff and after having both dinner and brunch here, I can highly recommend both. In fact, I am going back for my birthday at the end of March...

Great place, nice buzzy atmosphere and great, friendly service. The food was good quality and plentiful. Would definitely return.

The thought of an American Bar and Grill conjours up the horrors of a burger joint for most Londoners but Christophers is far far from this image. With a sweeping stone staircase (atmospherically lit at night by candles on each step) leading up to the delightful restaurant which is set in an... [More]

Christopher's is just beautiful inside, from the understated trendiness of the bar, up the candle-lit winding staircase and into the elegant dining room. The great decor and friendly service is matched by simple but quality dishes. We had the pre-theatre menu which is good value for money with 2... [More]
