  • Olive Tree

    Budget choice
  • It's all about cooking like mamma used to at Olive Tree. Run by Athenians, this Greek restaurant does a nice line in the kind of experience you'd expect to get at a Hellenic family occasion. Mediterranean hospitality comes on tap, with the matron of the show almost falling over herself to ply us with a second helping of their excellent fluffy own-made pitta bread. The meze included a nicely spiced platter of pastourma (spicy cured beef) and loukanika (pork and lamb) sausages as well as a range of dips that was competent enough despite an oddly eggy houmous. Unfortunately, there was a strange lack of customers, meaning that there wasn't quite the jauntiness you'd hope for at a Greek restaurant.

we eat at the olive tree regularly and i have to say that the quality and quantity of food is amazing. try the aubegine dip and the baboutzakia. the souvlakia are to die for. they are served the traditional greecian way on top of pitta rather than in the pitta like others do. Greece is one of our regular holiday destinations and when we go to the olive tree we feel as if we are back in greece in a typical greek taverna, quality and quantity being key!!! excellent place to get fresh traditional greek food.

I don't really know what Chris is on about. This restaurant is amazing, and the menu is not at all overpriced for the amount of food that you get. The owners are lovely and will remember you everytime you come in. The homemade pitta bread is fantastic and I highly recommend the aubergine dip and lamb souvlakia. If you do have room for any more food after that (it took me four visits and not eating anything all day to reach dessert for the first time!), you have to try their homemade baklava - absolutely fabulous. In summary, this is a lovely family restaurant that offers high quality food and extremely good value for price. The only thing I can say that is slightly not on the positive side, is that the decor and consequent ambience of the restaurant could need a bit of help, although it's simplicity adds to the charm of this hidden gem.

I have been to the olive tree on various occassions as it is local and i know the owners... However the food is overpriced and very poor quality and taste. you will wait for half an hours for souvlakia, that have been cooked on the grill not charcoal...yuk.

This is a great family owned restaurant run by a very sweet, hospitable Greek couple! I ate here last week with my Greek Cypriot boyfriend and we were both amazed by the food it was DELICIOUS! The Meze was fantastic and more than satisfying, it was also really great value for money.
