• You-Me

  • Pleasingly informal, dining at You-Me is like eating at a friends house. The eclectically decorated dining room seems to morph into a family living room the further back you go. In the corner, a TV cheerfully babbles with Korean soaps and dramas. As soon as you sit down, a metal pot of Chinese tea appears on the table. Theres a full Korean menu here, with all the anticipated barbecues, soups and stews, but the moderate prices attract younger customers looking for the comforts of home cooking. There were just a few late lunchtime diners when we visited, so service was lightning fast. A tasty bindaedok (mung bean pancake with pork and vegetables) arrived before we had finished unwrapping the cutlery. Next came a huge bowl of galbitang: a warming broth of beef ribs, egg and spring onions that fills the same niche in Korean society as chicken soup does for Jewish families. The free namul on the side was superb; sprouting soy beans with chilli paste were positively on fire. You wont find many more laid-back Korean venues in London and the foods good too.
