The fact that you might not even notice this splendid Hungarian pâtisserie on Hampstead's main drag is a testament to the restrained air which it maintains. In the sepia-toned, wood-panelled, leather-benched tearoom at the back, old fellows while away the day with their newspapers, oblivious to (or perhaps avoiding) the bustle beyond the door. Those who join them are shown an inviting platter of creamy confections from which they can choose creations such as chestnut slice, strawberry cheesecake, marzipan moon and many others, although the prosaic names do nothing to convey the cakes' magnificence. Good quality tea is served by the pot; there's also a range of uber-simple sandwiches (‘ham'). There are no gimmicks; this is an operation run passionately – and successfully.

Lovely cream cakes and atmospheric wood panelled interior. The staff are charming too. A nice change from the coffee shops on the High Street. Well worth seeking out for a visit!
Charming little tea room. Sandwich, tea service and 2 pastries came to £10. A bargain for hampstead! They'll also package up pastries to take away in pretty little boxes with red ribbon too - a nice touch.
A delightful little place, with fine cakes and tea, hidden away from the hustle of Hampstead - a nice bit of Hungarian hospitality.
This is one of the best tea shops I've been to in London. The tea arrives in small, flowery cups and saucers and the cake tray is amazing, packed full of weird and wonderful cakes in all shapes and sizes.
The best cakes I ever ate in London!! It's a really small place so better avoid going weekends as may have to que for a table. Feels like time has stopped there few decades ago.. Really nice!
