Like Lisboa Pâtisserie (57 Golborne Road, W10 5NR, 8968 5242) next door, this similarly busy, similarly intentioned Portuguese outfit does what it sets out to do, providing a range of generic and nation-specific snacks and drinks – but the quality is very variable, and it's not the case that the Portuguese pastries and fritters are the best choice. A chicken fritter was especially disappointing, its taste unclear. Pasteis de nata always work – but it would be time to pack up and head for the port if you were of Portuguese persuasion and couldn't deliver a good custard tart. On one level, it doesn't matter; prices are low and nobody's expecting Michelin stars, but choose carefully. Stick to what looks good on the outside, because the interior is sometimes unknown, even unappealing, territory.
