Not to be muddled with the Kazan chain, Kazans comprises a restaurant and adjacent bar. In summer a couple of tables are placed on a narrow platform outside. Within, the walls are decorated with enlarged and fascinating family photos from 1960s Turkey. We started our meal with a mixed cold meze featuring enginar, houmous, tarama, cacik and shaktuka (a creamy fried aubergine, pepper and yoghurt dip). All were excellent, and came with good pide. The portions were big enough to make us fear we wouldn’t complete our main courses (belatedly we noticed an alternative menu choice of just three meze: tarama, houmous and cacik). The mains certainly deserved saving space for. Alinazik was spicy lamb on aubergine and yoghurt. From the specials board, a delicious rack of lamb came with gratin potato, rocket and caramelised onions; the only problem was cutting through the bones without tipping the food off the plate. Baklava, ice-cream and chocolate cake are available to those who want dessert. In south London you have to go a long way to find a Turkish restaurant of this standard.

Oooh horrors! Ok, so, I live in south London in my own really quite small flat. I do not have a cat but long for a dog. I only learnt to drive last...

This is a fantastic restaurant with high quality food at very reasonable prices. I had a very tasty lunch there today and I'll definitely be going back soon.
Have just had the most fantastic lunch at Kazan!
Kazans is definitely one of the best restaurants in Earlsfield and we've had a brilliant experience every time we've eaten there.
The food is perfectly cooked and the menu has plenty to choose from, the staff are friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is relaxed and informal.
As our favourite local, we eat in there regularly and often take friends and family - I would absolutely recommend it to anyone - this place is definitely worth a try!
I had to comment after seeing Emma's remarks. this is a wonderful restaurant with a warm, informal, friendly atmosphere. This combined with the simple fresh and delicious food is why there are so many regulars who come back week after week (personally for the sarma beyti!). I would bring my parents, a date, a big party table or go just for a quick bite and a pint on sunday lunch. The staff are great and really friendly. And sure..you may wait for a bit on a friday night, but its a little restaurant, with good drinks and meze to keep you going and why should you rush good food anyway?? I highly recommend it!!
hated it, bad food, bad service and terrible atmosphere
