A branch of a well-known halal eaterie, this busy restaurant-cum-takeaway comes boasting good credentials won at its original outlet in the East End. The dapper dining area complete with illuminated mirrors, Bollywood satellite screen and a signed photo of Gwyneth Paltrow was bustling with diners, ranging from Asian families to a large party of Australians. Business here is run with notable efficiency, with popadoms and water placed on our table the minute we sat down. Once our friendly waiter had taken our order, dishes appeared with commendable speed: crisp samosas, seriously peppery minced lamb kebab roll, tasty karahi jeera chicken (chicken cooked karahi style with cumin), rich baigan burtha (roasted aubergine dish), freshly cooked roti and naan, all washed down with sweet mango lassi. In short, a feast for a tenner a head. A bargain. We'll definitely be back for more.
