A cosy wood-panelled outpost of Austrian cuisine that spills on to a wide pavement, Café Mozart is an institution. Thankfully the owner of neighbouring Kalendar took it over last year and arrested something of a decline in standards. Before, Mozart's cakes were dropping in quality and it had adopted a ‘beans with everything' approach for its mighty breakfasts. Now the menu is shorter, fresher and features appropriate fare such as borscht, sausages, schnitzels and strudels, as well as hearty salads and fresh fish. Cakes are back on legendary form: juicy plum tarts, rich chocolate tortes and heavy baked cheesecakes, all made on the premises. Make sure you get here early for a table on a weekend lunchtime.
