• CAM at Centerprise

    Budget choice
  • Although a little rough around the edges, this Caribbean eaterie (attached to the specialist Centerprise bookshop) serves up large portions of quality chow for a few pounds and pennies. Jerk chicken came in a piquant barbecue sauce with a huge pile of rice and peas, as well as a can of cream soda – all for the excellent price of £3.99. Vegetable curry was its equal in size and price. Those who want to add a little more pep to the moderately-spiced food can choose from a collection of chilli and hot pepper sauces from around the world. And, as if the food weren't cheap enough, there are further reductions for customers who spend money in the neighbouring bookshop before their meal. The £5.99 buffet on a Sunday makes the perfect prelude to a matinée at the nearby Rio cinema.
