London’s largest family restaurant, the Rainforest Café is an extravagant tropical hideaway inhabited by animatronic apes and elephants, and complete with tropical storms and cascading waterfalls. It is extremely popular for kids’ parties: for £13.90 each child get a main course, dessert, drink, party bag and free birthday cake. Food is colourful, fun and aimed at a younger palate, with several healthy options. Adults also have plenty of choice, all in keeping with the rainforest theme: try a ‘leaping lizard meze’ (£7.90), followed by ‘sea bass samba’ (£15.30). The real challenge, however, is getting your offspring seated without giving in to their demands for soft toys and T-shirts from the shop on the way in.

Huge letdown, the food was appalling, the worst I have had in London. We had a cheeseburger which was overcooked and dry, my children had spaghetti which was tasteless. The venue is a big hit with our children but will never go back due to the bad overpriced food.
