  • Donna Margherita

  • The trattoria styling – open brickwork, mural, strings of garlic and display of antipasti – is so outdated it feels fresh, but perfect pizza never goes out of fashion, and here are some of the best puffy-yet-crisp pizza bases you’ll find. Look on the specials sheet for wine bargains, such as Chiaretto rosé from Bardolino in the Veneto. The menu lists around 20 pizzas, plus half-and-half combo plates, though you may be diverted by the tempting pasta and gnocchi dishes made on the premises. We were impressed by the freshness and accurate cooking of the seafood, both in a starter of herb-crusted wood-roasted squid, and the garlicky pizza frutta di mare. Own-made desserts such as tiramisu and a white-chocolate-coated sponge shell filled with chocolate ice-cream are fine, but not worth saving room for. Surprisingly, Donna Margherita wasn’t busy on our Sunday lunchtime visit, when it seems the perfect spot for young families. Staff are friendly, easy-going and in no hurry to see us leave.

We went to Donna Margherita last night and had a great time. It was super busy so the food took a little while but was worth the wait - I'd recommend the mushroom, parmesan and truffle oil pizza. My friends wanted to share a pizza, and the waiter brought them out their pizza cut in half and arranged like a bow on 2 different plates with massive sprigs of basil. It has a bustling atmosphere and the waiters are lovely and actually Italian. I'd recommend ringing to reserve a table because it was packed.

After previously having a very nice lunch at this restaurant, I recommended it to many friends and sang its praises to the hilt.
Because I had this positive experience, i decided to spend my birthday evening there with six close friends last Saturday.
I was very disappointed to say the least; the room was cold, the staff surly and the service very sporadic with people having to wait for their courses and coffee whilst others were finishing theirs.
I had remembered a wonderful, soft calamari cooked in breadcrumbs and lemon, so recommended it to my friends, but on on this occaision it was hard and chewy, and my pizza was very ordinary indeed.
A colleague, who was there on the same evening with her friend, (after i had recommended the restaurant to her) was also disappointed and wondered what all the fuss i'd made was about.
It was clear that it was my birthday as there were cards and gifts on the table from my friends, but none of the staff wished me a Happy Birthday which is something which most good waiters do, especially in supposedly friendly family owned restaurants. The final straw was when I accidentally left some of my birthday cards on the table when i left. I rang up immediately to ask if they could post them to me, and I was told that there was nothing there.
    Suffice to say, not recommended.

I am italian, and I lived in south Italy for three years, and I had the chance to taste what a real "Neapolitan" pizza is, and Donna Margherita is a place where to go when you want a really fresh and really italian (I repeat more than Italian...napoletana). Go there and try, you will agree with me!

Well i`m so pleased that i found this restaurant !!!!!!!!!! i`m Italian and as any Italian i`m a big lover for food
My schialatielli with sea food was very good, actually i did not believe till lust night that in London i could eat a plate of pasta so perfect !
This is that sort of place that when you eat you will always go back,
specially if you are a fans of the Neapolitan pizza which is the restaurant specialty!!!
I will recommend this restaurant to any one that likes "real " Italian food!!

Fantastic atmospere. Food excellent. I have been many times with my wife for a cosy, relaxing meal and once with a large group for a birthday party. Ideal spot for both. Recommend 100%

The closest you can get to being in Southern Italy. The food and pizza are delicious. Thanks to Gabriele and his team the atmosphere is warm and friendly and keeps me going back. I recommend it highly.
