It’s hard not to compare ASK with its sister chain Zizzi, and wonder exactly what separates them. Similar pizza, a choice of pastas and some safe salads make the quest difficult on face value, but it’s the surroundings where ASK stands out; many of its restaurants are situated in prime positions or in restored listed buildings. The Victoria branch is certainly impressive, with a swirling staircase. The pizza, though admirably adventurous in its toppings, can be hit and miss. Yet on our visit, seafood ravioli was fresh and flavoursome, substantial salads spot-on, and service quick and attentive.
