The Dala horses in the window sum up the Garbos experience; if youre looking for a taste of Sweden, you wont be disappointed. Alongside a patriotic picture gallery including the Swedish royal family, Abba tribute band Fabba and, of course, Greta Garbo, theres a plethora of Swedish memorabilia decorating the place. The mid-priced menu contains traditional favourites such as meatballs, gravadlax and elk. Swedish is spoken as much as English among staff and clientele. Our meal started with a chunky pea and ham soup and a pickled herring selection with plentiful accompaniments. Both proved simple and filling, as were the dishes that followed. Pyttipanna diced, pan-fried meats, onion and potato, topped with an egg required generous seasoning to bring out the individual flavours. Conversely, salmon steak came with an intensely rich white wine sauce. Staff were exceptionally welcoming and the food reflected the mood: this is home-style cooking in a homely environment no pretensions here, on the menu or otherwise.

Being Swedish this is Swedish food at it's worse, the food is better and cheaper in Ikea. Meatballs made of pork?? and so bland. Janssons frestelse that is wonderful when cooked properly, almost raw.
Prawncocktail in a terrible tangy shop bought sauce. Kaldolmar overcooked and bland, awful awful food, the only highlight was the cider and the redhaired waitress that was very kind.
