It may be located on a nondescript residential road in Kensal Rise, but the Island was buzzing with locals on a midweek night. A huge bamboo-screened terrace runs around the sandy-coloured exterior; the ground floor and basement are now a bar (also serving food), while the first floor is a light, bright dining room with colonial-style dark wooden furniture. A starter of smoked salmon with baby beetroot, spinach and (undetectable) horseradish was generous if unremarkable. Large ravioli were stuffed with a tasty mix of ricotta, spinach and oyster mushrooms, but the pasta was tough. Sea bass (two nicely cooked fillets) came with ratatouille that had a charred aftertaste. So, flaws in the kitchen, but the operation is still a definite hit.

Have been going since it opened and while it started off average and I would not have called it my local, it has consistently gotten better. The present menu is very light and summery and I will be making it my local from here on in.The staff are delightful with some hot young ladies.
This was the worst experience ever had!!
Although we had not booked we were advised we could wait for a table. We were kepy waiting for about 2 hours to be told the kitchen was closing! After the long awaited meal, it was very disappointing - the prawns were still frozen and couldnt be called prawns, more like tiny shrimps. It was certainly not worth the money or time wasted waiting
