This good looking place on Chiswick High Road is a social chameleon. At breakfast the menu sports everything from the ‘full English’ to generous stacks of buttermilk pancakes. Come in the evening and expect killer cocktails and no-nonsense brassiere mains. We visited for weekend brunch when the place was clattering with trendy west Londoners and young families were spilling out onto the street to enjoy the good weather. Inside there is dark wood furniture, green-grey banquettes and striking coloured floor tiles, all centred around a busy bar area. Waiters in starched white aprons and black waistcoats deliver faultless service despite the crowds. Our ‘pig sandwich’ was a delight – shreds of succulent pork mounded into bread with Bramley apple sauce. Giant burgers are served on wooden boards and top-notch shoestring chips come in galvanised pots. You certainly won’t leave hungry. Less exciting was a pear crumble with custard, but this place (part of the Soho House group, and with accommodation available) is more about the buzzing atmosphere than cutting-edge cuisine. Whatever the time of day, you are sure to be seduced by the slickness of the operation.
