New Maldens Burlington Road is lined with Korean eateries, and Jee Cee Neh is the pick of the bunch. Its every inch the Korean canteen, but this canteen has class. The immaculate, tiled interior is filled with pot plants and colourful striped panels; its a firm favourite with Korean ladies who lunch. As well as table-top barbecues and hearty stews, the extensive menu has plenty of intriguing specials for two, including slow-cooked jeongol casseroles, yuk hwe (raw beef with pear) and bosam (boiled pork with vegetables and garnishes). It also contains lots of photos to pique your interest. We plumped for a pile of lightly steamed mandu dumplings with an inspired tangy soy dip and cabbage kimchi with white onion as a secret ingredient and a searing, dry chilli heat. A main course of kimchi chigae was also a delight: full-flavoured, spicy and loaded with kimchi, leeks and tender slices of pork. Waiting staff were tirelessly attentive and service was zippy, despite the lunchtime crowd. This is one of our favourite Korean restaurants.
