• Tokyo Diner

  • A corner of Chinatown that’s been Japanese since 1992, Tokyo Diner may not be the trend-setter it once was, but it has acquired a patina of homely authenticity. The inexpensive set meals are even cheaper between 3pm and 6pm. We love the cool aubergine agé bitashi topped with a thick slice of lotus root.

For a Japanese restaurant in the UK, this is good. The staff are Japanese, which is not true in some other supposedly authentic Japanese restaurants in London. However, if Tokyo Diner were in Tokyo, it would be half the price.
