Since its Piccadilly Circus restaurant closed down, the only West End branch of this small cod-Italian-American chain is a space in Selfridges’ basement (though their outlets in Putney, Chiswick and Knightsbridge do have other moneyed districts covered). Unremarkable both in design and cuisine, Frankie’s is an attempt to mimic a New Jersey trattoria, and is the result of a rather peculiar arrangement between Frankie Dettori and Marco Pierre White. While its other branches market themselves as family restaurants, the Selfridges restaurant is markedly less kid-orientated. The menu offers fairly standard and not particularly inspiring Italian-American favourites, such as the pizza with mushroom and salami that we ordered. Pasta dishes were sauce-heavy and filling, while a chocolate mousse dessert had been overpowered by cream. Service seemed lethargic; we knew we’d been waiting too long when Frankie Valli came round on the soundtrack for the third time.

I would like to share the outrageous experience me and my friends had last week at Frankies in Putney. We booked a table and arrived on time and we waited for 1hour and 40 minutes without the food be served. The staff and specially the manager were very unhelpful and never apologised or even explained the reason for this poor service. I highly recommend NOT TO GO to this place and also to the person in charge of this chain to re-train immediately the staff.
Very disappointed with Frankie's restautant in Knightsbridge. Dimly lit and I don't mean for romantic purposes! The table that our party was seated at had spotlights above which were not working, one was even hanging out of the ceiling. We had to use a small lamp between us to read the menu which wasn't very exciting! The service was appalling, the manager on the night was not friendly and never smiled, the waiters and waitresses were not much better. The only comment that I can make in the restatuant's favour is that the portions of food were adequate. I would not recommend this resatuant to my friends or family, the place certainly lacked atmsophere and friendliness.
I have visited Frankie grill and bar a couple of times in Putney and keep going back. The food is fab, the service is excellent. The manager Diego makes you feel so welcome and makes sure you are okay all the time. I also had the opportunity to meet Marco Pierre White he welcomed us and he was so nice and friendly we shared some champagne. Excelllent place and if you lucky you meet Marco.
keep the excellent work up Diego
