Don’t let those images of toned Brazilians deceive you – the boys and girls from Ipanema are partial to a bit of all-you-can-eat too. It’s done with more style here than your usual pile-it-high joint, although the decor – grey colour scheme, cheap-looking fixtures and fittings, plastic plants, double-glazed patio doors to the outdoor terrace – isn’t that appealing.

Following the rodizio formula, servers (known as passadors) bring out skewers of various meats that they slice on to your plate until you’ve had enough, indicated by flipping a card over on its side from green to red. Everything was fairly mediocre, from a toothless caipirinha onwards. Meats were flavoursome mostly in a salt-heavy way, while chicken hearts were old-boots tough. The most interesting cut was the cupim (traditionally the hump of zebu cattle), which tasted like a very English piece of boiled silverside.

Quality was patchy at the generous buffet and salad displays, although there were certainly moreish items, including pao de queijo, farofa for sprinkling, and some claggy croquette-like morsels such as bolinhos and coxinhas. You’ll pay £14.95 for the buffet alone, and an extra fiver for all that meat, but the interest lies primarily in quantity and novelty.

Having read the other reviews I felt I had to leave a comment. We went to Preto - Putney this weekend and had an amazing time! The food and the service were both brilliant and the atmosphere was fantastic. We have already recommended this restaurant to our friends and will definitely be going back. Whenever we asked the staff what things were etc we found them to be incredibly polite and helpful. At no point did we feel rushed to leave either. Thank you Preto for a great dining experience :o)

Buffet was really poor. Meat was obviously cheap, flavourless, tough and outrageously salty. But both the buffet and the meat were superior to the service, which I could generously describe as rude-it was like they were annoyed that we'd chosen to enter. To be fair, I think I was more annoyed by the end of the night.

Hear it from a Brazilian who is used to the rodizio experience and love his meat. I went to the soho branch with my wife for a Sunday dinner, the buffet was very basic and a lot poor than it used to be. The meat was over-salted and received the same poor attention given to the clients. Both on the preparation an in the serving: The service (or lack of )really ruined my evening I should never come back to the place again. I have never seen so many rude waiters together in one place. Still they have the nerves to charge a 10% cover charge for the awful attitude and service .

I went to their soho branch for my birthday and although the food was good, the service received ruined all the experience. Our waiter was fine, although we had to ask several times for the drinks and the desserts took ages, but what was more disappointing was the way the servers with the meat skewers were coming to the table… I understand that they are in a central London location and they need to turn the tables as quick as possible, but we felt very rushed, even when the cards were in red the guys with the meat skewers were still coming and 'pushing' us to take some meat. My friend who wasn't having the meat option (just the salad bar) had to constantly say that he didn't want any meat. As a result we eat very fast and didn't enjoy the food at all. Also the table was in the middle of the restaurant, so it wasn't private or inviting us to be relaxed… We went there to celebrate my birthday, we were a table of 13 and spend over £400 (£44 of which were service charge) and I feel that my friends and I had to spend a lot of money for a very bad service in return. I wrote them an email and so far after a week and a half after I still haven't received even an apology from them! They clearly don't care about their customers and look only after the money. Rodizio Rico is a much better restaurant chain.

My husband is Brazilian and we went there for his birthday. We like the place and the food. Their feijoada is the best we have eaten in London,Staff told us the kitchen is lead by a new chef from Rio de Janeiro.Thank you we will be back.

Went here for a family birthday. We felt forced to finish out meal quickly and staff were hovering around our table hurrying us to leave. Avoid this restaurant at all costs! When I am paying around £40 a head (wine and desert included) I expect time to enjoy my meal.

Shocked at some of the reviews here... Having been a frequent customer of the Porcao chain of Churrascaria in both Rio and Sao Paulo, I've long looked for an authentic Brazilian dining experience in the UK. In celebration of a recent family birthday, we took our chances and drove from Southampton to the Putney High Street branch and were delighted. The ambiance was enjoyable, the staff extremely friendly and helpful throughout our meal, and the food was excellent and genuinely transported me back to my favorite dining experiences in Brazil. Unlike other Churrascaria in the UK, food wasn't presented under the pretence of 'all you can eat, but we're serving you 4 spits of food and then we'll take your plate away'; even the Brazilian practice of removing a used plate and inviting you to start again was in full force. I can't understand some of the negative reviews here. Staff were warm and friendly. A Churrascaria really isn't a place for a diner to go unless they love meat, in many different forms, but the smallest research would have set the correct expectation. If you want a genuine Brazilian culinary experience at great prices, you can't go far wrong. Now please Preto, let's have a branch down here in Southampton soon, ok?

The churracso it was a bit of let down not as much beef as supposed to be. Staff were all in a rush to clean the table before we had finished our food. Salad it was no variety at all, meat were salty as well as the salad, caipirinha not made which cachaca 51.. I will definitely not go back in there , too expensive and food not so great as they show in their website.
