  • Myself & my mother in law went to the tea room yesterday but we arrived after 5pm & so instead of having tea & cakes we had a most wonderful meal, the tea room is upstairs in a pub but I wouldn't call it stingy at all infact I would call it old world style with a fantastic 1940-1950's style which is amazing, the staff were friendly the atmosphere was great & the food was delicious, we can't wait to go back for tea & cakes, I would reccomend this to all who like character themed places.

  • I thought it would be nice to take my mum for her birthday but we did not enjoy our afternoon tea experience here. First of all you have to go into a dingy pub (Coach & Horses), and ask the bar staff what to do. They then let you in behind the bar and up some narrow stairs, (not the greatest first impression) which leads to the tea room. When you get up to the tea room it's quite a pleasant surprise with it's quaint old English decor. But then on closer inspection we had wrinkled tablecloths that were also stained quite badly, and cracked tea cups. I actually felt quite embarrassed that I had brought my mother there. The staff were friendly though and dressed to impress in old fashioned attire. We had the full afternoon tea priced £17.50. The sandwiches were very basic, plain cucumber, egg & cress, or smoked salmon & cream cheese, on bog standard bread. The scones with clotted cream and jam were delicious. The fairy cakes were very boring and dry and seemed like they were out of a packet. The other cakes left A LOT to be desired. They had a good selection of teas but you had to pay extra for anything that wasn't English Breakfast. 12.5% service is added to the bill. All in all I would not go back here again. I didn't think it was worth the money and it wasn't special enough for a birthday, I wish I had paid a little more and gone to a hotel.

  • Loved this place! Great fruit scones, generous with the clotted cream and homemade jam, attentive service and a really cosy comfortable feel. An hour in here feels like a welcome escape from the madness of central London. Good value too.

  • Make sure you book your afternoon tea at least one month in advance because they check emails every two days. very disappointed because I was trying to have a vegan afternoon tea with my family coming from Italy but I never got a final reply to confirm the booking and when I got there they could only serve me "vegan bread" as a vegan option. Thanks but I can find vegan bread anywhere and much cheaper than 17.50!

  • We’ve booked 2 parties with these guys and both have been great. First was a leaving do for a work colleague, the second was a birthday party. Amazing staff that couldn’t do enough for us, think 50 drunk work colleagues all ordering from a downstairs bar,and beautiful room. You can’t get a better location and it’s a very reasonable price. Even has a little smoking area on the same floor. We did have to book fast as its first come first served, may be that what happened with “disappointed party organiser”. Haven’t been for tea yet but would love to soon. Great little independent business.

  • Me and my sister visited the Secret Tearoom on the off chance as we saw it being advertised on a French TV, and were visiting London. We hadn’t booked but they still gave us a table for 2 by the window. We had a Cream Tea each, which were scones with cream and Jam and a pot of tea. The staffs were very nice about fitting us in and the food was delicious. It was even nicer then the TV show had advertised. We didn’t stay long as we had things to do but very happy we had the chance to pop on and take some photos to show everyone back in France.

  • I’m really surprised at the reviews I’ve seen on here. I booked the Tearoom for birthday drinks; we wanted a more civilized party, about 2 weeks ago. There were 9 of us in total and one baby, all busy working mums, but we all agreed we had an amazing time. The room looked perfect all laid out for tea with matching china and cake stands, real vintage table clothes too. There were only a few tables being used when we arrived but by the time we left the place was full. The girls serving us were very sweet and quick with our order considering we didn’t really know what to have. We had a huge selection of cakes and sandwiches that we all shared which worked out perfect for us. I thought the scones were great, fresh and warm served with this great tort jam that really worked with the clotted cream and sugary cakes. They even warmed up a jar of baby food for my friend which considering how busy they were, was very kind. We stayed for about 2 hours, and had our teapots were refilled with hot water a few times free of charge. This isn’t silver service but I don’t think it’s trying to be. It’s more homely and welcoming then a hotel serving afternoon teas, and it’s very reasonably prices considering the alternatives for big groups are more £40+ a head. Great atmosphere to meet up with friends for a chat, they even allow children. I will be returning.

  • What a wonderful tea room! Fab cake and no smell of beer when I was there. My boyfriend and I loved the china and the table clothes and such sweet staff. Our scones were perfection, pile them high with the clotted cream... love it!

  • Wonderful tea room. For me the best in London and visit couple of times a month when in Soho. Their homemade cakes and scones are fabulous and the staff are really cool. Absolute nonsense about beer smells wafting up from downstairs!! As with serving burnt scones I have never had a problem. Love it!!
