Tao Tao Ju is superior to the Chinese restaurant directly next door, Manchurian Legends, due to its wider range of vegetarian-vegan options, which is always a plus, because who likes eating dead things that look like your pet? For two patrons the total came in at just over £41, including two starters, two rices dishes, two mains (the sweet and sour tofu is heartily recommended), and two drinks. Not bad.
Complimentary fortune cookies and freshly sliced fruits are served with the cheque, leaving you refreshed and slightly more wise than when you walked in the place. I leave you with the - admittedly terrible - advice from my portentous biscuit: "Never forget. Never explain. Never apologise".
