It’s not hard to see why this branch of Tas is usually busy. The location is fantastic, between Waterloo and Southwark stations and near both Vic theatres; the space is bright and inviting; the menus and website do an excellent job of enthusiastically extolling the virtues of Anatolian cuisine; and the pricing is pretty irresistible. The catch, unsurprisingly, is that the food is unexceptional. Apart from a damp, soggy cheese börek and an over-lemony tabouleh, nothing on our visit was bad, and the lamb köfte main was cheeringly flavourful, if a little on the dry side. Everything else was a good example of chain-restaurant mediocrity – blandly seasoned, inoffensively spiced, but tried-and-tested to the point of high-street reliability. The türlü, a mixed vegetable stew with couscous and yoghurt, was particularly dull (and the potatoes were undercooked). Nevertheless, you can get a substantial meal for around £13 here, including bread, yoghurt and salad at the start and turkish delight at the end. Service is speedy, the wine list has depth, and the atmosphere fits the bill – yet you’d only come here to eat before heading somewhere more exciting.

I like this restaurant. It offers really nice Turkish food and the set menus are reasonably priced. I wouldn't say this is the best Turkish food London has to offer but as a non busy pit stop if you in the area this place rates pretty highly in my books.

Write a review...Tas 'The Cut' in Southwark is mouth wateringly yum! I am a huge fan of Turkish Cuisine and this is one of my favourite restaurants. Off the menu I always go for 'Iskender', which is a delicious grilled mix meat dish on a bed of bread served with Tomato sauce and yoghurt, a truly taste tangling plate of goodness! The setting traditional but keeps with a clean modern feel and the staff are always friendly. My most recent visit was with my partner for a mid-week pre-theatre meal and as always I was blown away by the tastes in my mouth. Just around the corner is another one of the Tas branches, Ev.

Good value, good fun, delicious Mezze. Friendly service and good set menus. The amb Kofta with cous cous was tasty!

Good value and good food.  Not ideal for leisurely dinner at busy times  - can feel quite frantic.  But I've always found the staff to be very professional and certainly good place for lunch.

We have often eaten here - mostly lunch, but this Saturday evening also. We have always found it extremely good value, excellent service and very good food - especially the grilled stuff (shish etc.) The food is simple and unpretenious and all the better for that.

Good Turkish restaurant and nice staff. Maybe they have changed the staff, the only thing is the guy at the entrance. The food is very good and they cook a very good Mussaka I think is better to ask for main dishes instead of the menu sets.

service is awful. starving at the beginning. waiting for ever for a little bread and for water. Group Menu - compulsory because we are 12. starters come really after long time. then the main course was probably too much food - all of us felt too full. Again getting some water or a coke requires waiting too much. Food is good though.
